Getting to us

Located in the heart of the UK, Sheffield is one of England's largest cities, with excellent road, rail and air networks.


The Sheffield Hallam City Campus – Charles Street Building, is approximately ten minutes from junction 33 of the M1, a two-minute walk from Sheffield's railway station and right next to Sheffield's bus and tram transport interchange.


By rail

Regular inter-city rail services operate between Sheffield and other main-line towns and cities.


Sheffield's Train Station is just a two-minute walk away from the Charles Street campus.


On leaving the train station, cross the road and proceed up Howard St. On reaching Arundel Gate turn left and walk past Stoddart Building. Charles St Building is the next university building on the left-hand side.


London

Direct train from London St Pancras International to Sheffield takes around 2 hours.


Trains from London King's Cross to Sheffield via Doncaster take 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a change at Doncaster station.


Bristol

The fastest and most convenient way to travel from Bristol to Sheffield is by train. You can take a direct train from Bristol Temple Meads station to Sheffield station, which takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.


Scotland

Edinburgh to Sheffield is a direct train operated by CrossCountry or LNER. Both companies offer several daily services that run directly from Edinburgh Waverley station to Sheffield station, with journey times typically ranging from around 3.5 hours.


Manchester

TransPennine Express, this is a direct train from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield, which takes around 50 minutes.


Birmingham

A direct routes is operated by Cross Country trains from Birmingham New Street station to Sheffield station. The journey takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes.


By road

Sheffield's motorway link is the M1, junctions 33 and 34. You are recommended to leave at junction 33 and proceed into the city centre by way of the Parkway (A630).

The NCP car parks at Hartshead Square and Furnival Gate are close to the City Campus.

From £22.95 The APCOA Moor car park on Eyre Street is a five-minute walk from SHU City Campus – Charles Street building.

We have a special University rate of £5.00 per day at the APCOA car park on Eyre St. Bring the entry token to the University and authorise the chip coin machine in reception to validate the £5.00 rate.
