Registration for the 2023 CO Research Conference has opened today.

The Conference will take place on Wednesday 14th June at Sheffield Hallam University. The theme of the Conference is;
'CO and the Indoor Environment'
This is one of the key priorities as outlined in the Trust’s Five-Year Strategy.
Discussions will be focused on the following;
- Health and indoor air quality
- Fuel poverty and the consequences for CO safety
- Solid fuels and the complexities of reporting, safety and impact on air quality
- The impact of building regulations and energy efficiency measures on CO safety
The Conference will cover the issue of fuel poverty and the implications for CO safety. We know that people living in fuel poverty are at a greater risk of exposure to CO. There are now significantly more people living in fuel poverty, due to the cost-of-living crisis.
The theme will also include the subject of solid fuels and the risk of CO exposure. Complexities of data collection in this sector mean there is not a clear picture of the risk of CO exposure when using solid fuels. There is also a lack of legislative requirements to report CO incidents related to solid fuel.
The discussions will touch upon the debate on solid fuels and air pollution, which has been generating much discussion recently.
The Conference will also cover the impact of building regulations and energy efficiency measures on CO safety. To date, many energy efficiency measures have focused on making properties airtight to improve heating efficiency. This has negative implications for air quality and CO safety.
The Format
Coffee and registration will open from 10 am. The full agenda for the day will be published shortly.
The Trust will provide a brief update on grant funding for 2023, and we will also hear from some of the grant awardees.
The afternoon agenda will include several breakout sessions which will allow delegates to participate in discussions and debates of interest to them.
The subject of the breakout sessions will be confirmed soon.
The formal agenda will end at 5.45 pm, with a drinks reception at a nearby venue from 6 pm - 7 pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all delegates throughout the day.
The Conference is free to attend for all delegates, however, places are limited. Those wishing to attend are advised to sign up asap.
