Leading UK safety charity, the CO Research Trust has announced the list of speakers who will be presenting at the first CO Research Conference on 5th July 2022. The list includes experts from around the globe, including the following.

Adrian McConnell, Head of Charitable Operations at the CO Research Trust said. “The calibre of speakers who will be presenting at our first ever CO Research Conference is outstanding. We are proud to be able to bring together the brightest minds in the field of CO Research and are hopeful that the outcome of the Conference will be the development of further ground breaking scientific research projects.”
Adrian continued. “We are also honoured to be joined by Prof. Robert Chilcott, Prof. Andy Shaw, Prof. Shirley Price and Consultant Isabella Myers, who will be chairing each of our four sessions during the day. The response to our announcement of the Conference has overwhelming. We are anticipating a full capacity turn out at Church House Conference Centre.”
Registration has now closed for the event, which will take place on Tuesday 5th July 2022. However, all presentations will be available on the CO Research Trust website following the event www.coresearchtrust.org.
The Conference will be the first in person event run by the charity for a number of years and will allow researchers to meet face to face to discuss possible collaborations.
Baroness Finlay, Chair of the CO Research Trust, will open the Conference, focusing on some of the key challenges and priorities for research in this area.
Baroness Finlay said. “Since 2013 the Trust has invested almost £3m in research projects. We are committed to investing a further £1.5m in the next five years. This Conference will allow us to assess what the research has achieved so far, and help us look to the future. The Trust is committed to improving awareness and understanding of CO poisoning, so that lives can be saved and to minimise the impact of CO poisoning, particularly for vulnerable groups.”
The Trust will provide an outline of the new grant funding process which will begin with a sandpit event on Wednesday 6th July, at the same venue. Anyone considering applying for grant funding from the Trust is strongly advised to attend this event on day 2.
The sandpit event will bring together academics, industry professionals, researchers and organisations with a view to creating new projects around the themes outlined below, related to CO poisoning.
- Improved diagnosis
- Better Treatments and Therapeutics
- Understanding Vulnerable Groups, Co-Morbidities and Health Outcomes
The event will encourage free thinking to delve into the problems surrounding the above issues and to work towards uncovering innovative solutions, through research projects.
Baroness Finlay continued. “To bring together all the great minds who work in this area provides the opportunity to lay the foundations for some really innovative and ground breaking research. We are excited about what this event can achieve."
