Launching the Carbon Monoxide Summer Awareness Campaign

CORT CEO Adrian McConnell was joined by Robert Lyon, Founder of Playfair Marketing to launch the Carbon Monoxide (CO) Summer Awareness Campaign . At this special summer lecture, Rob launched this important campaign and shared how delegates can play a vital role in raising awareness of carbon monoxide safety during the summer months.

While CO is often associated with the winter months, the risks remain significant throughout the summer. From camping trips and caravans to boats, barbecues and portable fuel-burning appliances, many seasonal activities can expose people to the dangers of this invisible and potentially deadly gas. This lecture provided valuable insight into why summer awareness is so important and why collective action is needed to help prevent avoidable tragedies.

During the session, delegates were introduced to the campaign’s key messages and objectives, and gained a clear understanding of how the initiative aims to educate the public and encourage safer behaviours. Rob provided a practical walkthrough of the campaign resources, demonstrating how to access, schedule and share content effectively across a range of channels. Attendees also learnt how to sign up, get involved and maximise the reach of campaign messaging within their own networks and communities.

Robert Lyon is the founder of Playfair Marketing, a marketing and content agency dedicated to putting people at the heart of business. Playfair has partnered with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Carbon Monoxide to help drive awareness of this silent killer. Passionate about saving lives through education, Robert and his team create campaigns that inform, engage and empower the public to better understand the dangers of carbon monoxide.

The key takeaways from this session were to:

  • Understand the importance of carbon monoxide awareness during the summer months and the key messages behind the campaign.
  • Discover how to access, use and share campaign resources to maximise engagement and reach.
  • Leave with a practical action plan to support the Summer Awareness Campaign and help improve public safety.
