Our February lecture titled "The Medical Examiner – closing the loop on CO data." was delivered by Isabella Myers on Thursday 17th Feb at 3pm.

Isabella is an independent consultant with over 20 years’ experience investigating and controlling the health effects associated with indoor and outdoor environmental hazards.

The presentation focused on the introduction of the new Medical Examiner role in the coronial system at post mortem in England and Wales and the opportunity it provides to collect better data on CO poisoning.

The 2011 All Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group (APPCOG) report identified a key role for coroners to support increased detection of CO poisoning in England and Wales. The report recommended that “The Government should ensure that all coroners’ post-mortems routinely test for carboxyhaemoglobin (COHb) levels”.
