When is the CO Research Conference?

The CO Research Conference will take place on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th June 2024. Registration and refreshments will begin at 9.30am. The formal agenda will start at 10.30am and finish at 5.30pm. This will be followed by a drinks reception and presentation of the Christopher Bielby CO Award. There will also be a free, relaxed evening dinner for all delegates.

We will reconvene on Wednesday 19th June at 9:00am with a mid-afternoon finish.

Which is the closest train station?

The closest mainline train station is University station on the Cross Country and West Midlands lines. The hotel is 10-15 minute walk from the station. Please note there is no taxi rank at University Station.


Birmingham New Street station has good connections to the north and south and is a short taxi ride from the hotel. The taxi rank is on Navigation Street (Stephenson Street / Victoria Square exit).


There is a train approximately every 10 minutes from Birmingham New Street to University Station that takes 7 minutes for those happy to walk to the hotel.

What is the purpose of the Conference?

The CO Research Conference will provide the opportunity to review the latest research into carbon monoxide exposure, as well as discover more about the projects that are currently in progress. It is also a networking opportunity for researchers, academics, industry professionals, organisations and charities to meet in person to discuss the key challenges and focus on the priorities for the future.

How much will it cost to attend?

The Research Conference is free to attend for delegates. As this is a two-day event you may wish to secure a hotel room at the venue, more details below.

Who will be there?

Delegates at the CO Research Conference will include academics, researchers, industry professionals, organisations and charities and all key stakeholders in the world of carbon monoxide research.

Will food be provided?

Yes, lunch will be provided on both days for delegates who have signed up to attend the Conference. Light refreshments will also be provided throughout both days during break times. On Tuesday evening there will be a complimentary conference dinner and drinks reception.

If I have any food allergies who do I notify?

If you are already registered to attend the Conference, please notify lauren@coresearchtrust.org of any food allergies or specific dietary requirements.


Will the Conference be available to view/join online?

No, the Conference will not be available to view or join online. However, all slides from the presentations will be available on the CO Research Trust website after the event has finished www.coresearchtrust.org.

What time does the Research Conference start?

Coffee and registration for the Conference will open at 9.30am on Tuesday 18th June. The formal agenda will finish at 5.30pm. The conference dinner will take place that evening. Delegates will reconvene at 9:00am on Wednesday 19th June.

What is the format of the day?

Following the opening speech, there will be several sessions hosted by our keynote speakers, to focus on specific areas of interest followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session. Following lunch there will be breakout sessions covering different subject areas again with time for questions.

Day two will feature experts from the world of CO in a series of keynotes and fireside chats. The intention is for the Conference to be as interactive for delegates as possible.

If I do not attend the event, how will I find out about the latest CO news?

If you are unable to attend the Research Conference, all information will be available on the CO Research Trust website www.coresearchtrust.org following the event.

Will the event be recorded?

Yes, there will be recording throughout the day. If you do not wish to be included in this video, please let us know at the start of the day when you register your attendance.

Will any photos or videos of the event be shared on social media?

Yes, photos and video footage taken from the Research Conference will be shared widely on our website and on our social media channels. If you do not wish to be included in any photos or videos, please let us know at the start of the day when you register your attendance.
